Wellness campaign zones in on youth

Parents are also invited so that they can be advised on how to address issues facing their children.

YOUNG people will be reminded of the many opportunities they have nowadays at the wellness campaign event hosted by the New Germany Clinic.

The event, which will involve many stakeholders and various departments, will be held at the Solomon Mahlangu Hall, 32 Cumnor Gardens, Berkshire Downs, New Germany, on Friday, 21 June from 9am.

Deputy nursing manager at the New Germany Clinic, Lindiwe Mdluli, said it is so sad that many young girls dump their children because they feel they do not have any other choice.

“Teenage pregnancy will be among the many topics that we will sharing with young people so we appeal to them to come out in numbers. SAPS members will talk about the dangers of using drugs and crime.” she said.

The campaign ties in with youth month which is part of the reason the clinic is hosting the event.

“There is no need for young people to be afraid to come to clinics should they need assistance as all clinics now have Youth Friendly Services which has a nurse trained to assist them,” said Mdluli.

She added that parents are also invited to this event so they, too, can be advised on how to deal and talk to their children.

“For a country to go forward, grow and develop future leaders, we all need to work together,” Mdluli said.
