Jogger found dead on road in Winston Park

The man reportedly was hit by a vehicle in Jan Smuts Avenue.

ACCORDING to the Winston Park Guardians (WPG) one of their joggers has died in an apparent hit and run incident.

“We can confirm that the runner, who was hit by a vehicle in Jan Smuts Avenue in the early morning, has been identified by his family. Unfortunately the runner was declared deceased at the scene, ” said Hayden Johnson from the WPG.

Russel Meiring of ER24 confirmed that paramedics responded to a call of a man, believed to be in his 40s, lying on the side of the road.

“Medics assessed the man and found that he had sustained a significant head injury and showed no signs of life. Unfortunately, nothing could be done for the man and he was declared dead,” said Meiring.

Blue Security media and community liaison officer, Andreas Mathios was also at the scene.

 

SAPS was on scene and investigations are ongoing.

“Thank you for all those who assisted in trying to locate the runner’s family,” Johnson added.
