Company serves local learners

Eighty children from schools around the Valley of 1 000 Hills were given brand new school uniforms to wear.

WEARING a school uniform is a badge of pride, creates an identity for a school and is a vital part of being a learner.

Learners skipping school is often attributed to a lack of school uniforms and, with the donation of 80 full school uniforms, EnviroServ hopes to help alleviate absenteeism in schools.

Excited learners and their families gathered at the Salem Community Hall in Shongweni for the annual Mehlekati Bj Vilakazi Dress-a-Learner uniform handover.

A total of 80 learners from Amanganga, Asiphephe, Charles Memorial, Chief Lokothwayo, Delani, Edameni, Ecgekeni, Lalelani, Ntshongweni, Umthala, and high schools: Dassenhoek, Ndengetho, Ndengezi, Thokozamganga, and Wozamoya and Sikhethuxolo secondary schools, received full school uniforms.

“EnviroServ believes it is important to give back to the communities in which we operate and the places of learning where children of our employees are schooled,” said EnviroServ’s group public affairs manager, Makgabo van Niekerk.

“Uniforms give students a sense of belonging to a particular school and creates an identity for the school in the community.”
