Pinetown family wins a trip of a lifetime

The excited Mizana Magwa said they are looking forward to this amazing Disney Hollywood experience.

TWO-year-old Akohlulwa LJ Magwa was overwhelmed with the warm welcome which was awaiting him and his mom, Mizana at the Pinecrest Dis-Chem.

Mizana and her son were the lucky winners of a trip to Disney World, courtesy of Dis-chem.

The mom, who is trying to process winning this trip said she was still shocked as she was not even aware of the competition.

“I did not believe it, I really thought it was a scam. When they phoned me and told me I have won, I just responded with okay. They called me again after two weeks and told me to come through to the shop so that they can explain the terms and conditions, that is when I started believing that I have really won,” explained Mizana.

The excited Mizana said they have never been out of the country, “My husband and I had to apply for passports for us and Akohlulwa. We did not see a need to have them because the only trip we take is from Pinetown to the Eastern Cape and back.

“We are very excited, this will be our first time on the plane.

Thank you so much Dis-Chem for giving us a chance to explore the other part of the world,” she said.

Mizana said the customers were entered into this competition automatically if they spent R200 or more and swiped their reward cards.

Dis-Chem announced last year in October that customers across South Africa will be able to collect Disney MicroPopz, a series of collectible figurines from some of Disney and Disney Pixar’s most memorable films and animation series.

For every R200 spent, customers had the option to receive one Disney MicroPopz flowpack containing one of 16 Disney or Disney Pixar characters that includes classics and favourites.

This was in celebration of Mickey Mouse’s 90th anniversary in November 2018. Customers also had exciting opportunities to win prizes, which included an exclusive once-in-a-lifetime Disney Hollywood experience for a family of four which was won by a Pinetown resident, Mizana.

Dis-Chem also donated tens of thousands of these MicroPopz and thousands of albums to Robin Hood Foundation.

“These were taken through our various campaigns and were put in the hands of about 3 000 children, predominantly at Addington Primary and most recently at Umthombomuhle in rural Cliffdale,” said Robin Hood Foundation coordinator, Kim Griffith Jones.
