Appeal for signage after truck driver destroys fence in Pinetown

Councillor Melanie Brauteseth said that Tracy Watts Road has been brought to the attention of Metro Police.

PINETOWN resident, Eli Mhlongo, appeals for appropriate traffic signage to be installed on Eastleigh Terrace, off Tracy Watts Road, as a truck ended up on his property and left his brick fence completely destroyed.

On Tuesday, 30 April a delivery truck, claiming to be making its way to a Pick n Pay in Pinetown, made the wrong turn and when the driver tried to turn back, the truck hit Mhlongo’s wall due to the soft ground resulting from recent heavy rains.

The truck was stuck there for hours.

According to Mhlongo, delivery trucks have driven up to his home on countless occasions as many navigation devices suggest Tracy Watts as an alternative route into Pinetown.

“I believe the main problem is that there is no cul-de-sac or dead-end signs that warns trucks not to enter the road,” he said.

Councillor Melanie Brauteseth said that Tracy Watts Road has been brought to the attention of Metro Police. “We encourage Metro Police to please escalate this matter with urgency,” she added.

Metro Police were contacted for a comment but did not respond at the time of publication.
