Pinetown girls have a passion for charity

The Pinetown Girls High School learners recent project is collecting items for a crèche in KwaDabeka.

FIVE Pinetown girls, who are part of the school’s Interact Club, are enthusiastic about uplifting others and doing things for charity.

Amahle Mazibuko, Sisanda Bhengu, Samkelisiwe Dlamini, Vukile Zuma and Owethu Sibisi are also part of the Highway Youth Forum, a non-profit, community service-based youth organisation under the Pinetown Rotary Club wing.

The girls’ recent project is collecting toys, stationery and clothes for a crèche in KwaDabeka, Sakhisizwe.

Their educator, Kavisha Govender, who happens to be a past learner and was also a member of Interact Club said the girls have a very generous spirit and are determined with always helping where they can.

“Recently, the girls assisted the Pinetown Rotary Club at the ‘Food for Thought’ collection which was held outside Knowles SuperSpar in aid of three charities,” said Govender.

“We are appealing to the community to also help our girls fulfil their desire by donating any other items that can be useful to the children of Sakhisizwe Crèche.”

Govender said the crèche also has an afternoon programme for teenagers and would be very grateful for a sanitary pads donation.

People who wish to help can drop off the items at the school, 136 Josiah Gumede Road, Pinetown.
