Scouts collect food for rescued pets

Grateful Sam De Wet from Animal Antics said this collection will make a huge difference for all the dogs in their care and the ones they feed in the valley.

THE 1st Cowies Hill Cub Scouts collected food for less fortunate dogs and cats outside the Westville SuperSPAR on Good Friday.

Each shopper who donated food was given an Easter egg to say thank you.

One of Animal Antics Pet Rescue directors, Sam De Wet, thanked the 1st Cowies Hill Cub Scouts for collecting the food to assist them.

“We are based in Botha’s Hill and we are fairly new as we have been is existence for just over a year.

“We are the voice for the voiceless, we rescue, raise funds and re-home lost or abandoned animals. Our passion is the animals,” said Sam.

The NPO also has a feeding scheme in the valley where they feed abandoned dogs.

“This collection will make a huge difference for all the dogs in our care and the ones we feed in the valley, we are very grateful” she said.

The 1st Cowies Hill Cub Scouts, pack scouter, Jennifer Strachan said this was part of their community challenge and it is always awarding for them to help the less fortunate.

She added that they are always looking for new members. “We have three different groups; Merecats (five to seven years), Cubs ( seven to 11 years) and Scouts (11 to 18 years).”
