IN a follow up to the successful course, Being a Better Birder, which has now been run on six occasions since December, the second course in the series will be held on Saturday, 4 and Sunday, 5 May and is titled, Vocalisations, Migration and Flight.

This time, the course will delve into the fascinating stories and details associated with some of the amazing and mysterious things that birds do: vocalising, flying and migrating.

The course will provide answers on how each of these arises, develops and the principles of how they work. A fascinating dissection to illustrate the functioning of the flight muscles of a bird will be carried out by the lecturers.

Participants should bring a notebook and pen or pencil. A certificate of attendance will be presented as a record or memento of the course. Tea, coffee and refreshments will be available on arrival and mid-morning. Registration is at 8.30am, with the workshop running from 9am to 1pm.

Entrance is R200 for Kloof Conservancy and BirdLife Port Natal members, R250 for non-members and R150 for registered students or juniors (under 18).
