Meet new Pinetown social crime prevention officer

W/O Linda Zungu was working at the Kloof Satellite Station before taking over from W/O Muzi Maphumulo.

WARRANT Officer Linda Zungu is the new social crime prevention officer at the Pinetown Police Station.

Zungu resumed his duties in February taking over from W/O Muzi Maphumulo and is calling for support as he will be working with the community.

“The social crime prevention officer’s duties include being the CPF coordinator/activist, school programmes coordination, crime awareness programmes and interacting with police reservists.”

Before being promoted to this position, Zungu worked at the Kloof Satellite Station community service centre.

“I am more of a people’s person, I love working with the community and guiding people where I can,” he said.

His love for people was what attracted him to join the police services in 1998.

Zungu said he is no stranger to this position as he has done it before at a small station, Evatt SAPS, in the former Umzimkhulu District. He has also worked at Folweni SAPS.

When asked about his plans for his new position and fitting into Maphumulo’s shoes, the down-to-earth Zungu smiled and said he is determined to give his best and do more if possible.

When Zungu is not busy with his police duties, he said enjoys spending time with his family even though he is a divorcee.

“I am a proud father of three and I also have a granddaughter.”
