UPDATE: Missing Pinetown Taxify driver found dead in Ladysmith
A man linked to Sizwe's murder was arrested in Pinetown on Monday after police received a tip off about a person who was wielding a gun in Underwood Road.
THE missing Pinetown Taxify driver, Sizwe Ngcobo was found murdered in Ladysmith.
Sizwe was last seen on Saturday, 23 March and was reported missing by his wife, Nelisiwe, on Monday, 25 March after he told his wife he was transporting someone to Johannesburg.
Pinetown SAPS communications officer, Capt Bongumusa Manqele said Pinetown police were tipped off about a man who was wielding a gun along Underwood Road in Pinetown on Monday, 1 April.

“Police went to patrol the area and they found the man who was carrying an unlicensed 9mm pistol, he was arrested. Upon further investigation the police were able to link him to the disappearance of Sizwe.”
Manqele said the police investigation revealed that the suspect requested for a ride from Pinetown to Johannesburg.
“Sizwe was to transport the man to Johannesburg but he was never seen again,” explained Manqele.
The car they were travelling in, a silver grey Polo Vivo was recovered in Balfour, Mpumalanga province on Sunday, 24 March.
The man appeared in the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court on charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm and theft of a firearm which he allegedly stole from his girlfriend’s father early last month and he was remanded in custody.
He will appear again in court on Tuesday, 9 April.
“Pinetown police went to Ladysmith to search for Sizwe’s body on Thursday, 4 April. The man told police he had dumped the body along the road. While the police were investigating they were led to Ladysmith mortuary and they found Sizwe’s body. He had one gunshot wound on the head.
“The body had been taken to the mortuary by Ladysmith police who found Sizwe’s body next to the Bergville toll plaza,” added Manqele.
The man now faces additional charges of murder and carjacking and will appear in the Ladysmith Magistrate’s Court soon.
