Small Claims Court increases maximum claim amount

This move will also make claims quicker, easier and more affordable.

FROM the beginning of April, the Small Claims Court increased its maximum claim amount from R15 000 to R20 000.

Director of Durban-based law firm Schwenn Inc., Charmaine Schwenn, sits as a Small Claims Court commissioner for the Durban District and, on a pro bono basis, provides access to justice to those who cannot afford the court process.
