Alleged child rapist on the run

Zwelithini Zuma was granted bail and was due to appear again in court in September last year, but he absconded.

AN alleged rapist, Zwelithini Zuma, is on the run and the Pinetown Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit made an appeal to anyone who may know of his whereabouts.

According to the KZN SAPS media liaison, Lieutenant Colonel Thulani Zwane, Zuma was arrested by the police in September 2018 for two counts of rape.

He is alleged to have raped a nine-year-old girl and a 10-year-old boy from Inchanga.

“He appeared in the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court and he was released on bail. He was due to appear in court on 25 September 2018, but he absconded,” said Zwane.

Investigations linked him to another six cases, dating back to 2016, in Mariannhill, KwaNdengezi and Mpumalanga.

A warrant for his arrest has been issued.
