Help Hammarsdale dad rebuild house

Joe Zimba and his young sons have lost everything in the fire.

A DESPERATE father from Hammarsdale has appealed to the community to assist him to rebuild his RDP house, razed to the ground in a recent fire. He shared his home with his two young sons.

Joe Zimba, who suspected foul play, said the one-room house was burnt on 21 February destroying everything inside.

“We lost everything, clothes and furniture were destroyed; even the clothes I wear now were given to me by friends and neighbours,” he said.

Zimba said he is trying to rebuild his home but needs help in the process.

“I am staying with different friends and my sons, who are two and four years old, live with my mother who is very old. I need my children to stay with me so that I can take care of them as their father.

“At least I can bathe them in the morning, take them to crèche on my way to work and fetch them in the afternoons,” said Zimba.

Anyone who can assist the family can contact Zimba on 067 374 5768.

A case of malicious damage to property was opened at Hammarsdale police station.
