Driver and passenger injured in M13 accident

It is believed, the driver lost control of the bakkie he was driving after hitting a water puddle.

MOTORISTS have been urged to be extra cautious on the roads on this rainy day.

This morning, a driver and passenger sustained moderate injuries after the driver lost control of his bakkie on the M13 east bound near the Shongweni on ramp after hitting a water puddle.

Derrick Banks from Meditech ER paramedics said paramedics arrived on the scene and found the bakkie partly on the on-ramp with extensive damage.

“The driver and passenger were still in the vehicle when emergency personnel arrived on the scene. Paramedics assessed the patients and found that the driver and passenger both had suspected neck and back injuries. They were placed on specialised boards before being transported to a nearby provincial hospital,” said Banks.

It has also been reported that another vehicle also overturned this morning on the M13 westbound, Kloof/Gillitts.
