Pinetown Women’s Auxiliary celebrates a milestone

This was the first women's auxiliary branch to open in KZN.

THE Pinetown Women’s Auxiliary celebrated 100 years of existence.

This was the first women’s auxiliary branch to open in ‘Natal’ in 1919.

During the ceremony, the president, Sue Humphreys, presented the centenary banner which she designed and member, Anita Hulley, used her embroidery machine to transfer the design onto the fabric.

Sue then explained that the ‘The Priceless Pearl’ rose, named after the women’s auxiliary, was on the banner together with their unit names, motto and each pearl was individually sewn, and represented every member of Pinetown Women’s auxiliary and their country, and the postal members from the beginning of this centenary year 2019.

“Part of the legacy we leave the women of 2119 will be the 2019 members’ names on the back of this banner.

“Reverenda Brenda Timmer asked that this banner be displayed in the church for the year after which the women’s auxiliary may move it to the Hospitality Centre where our monthly meetings are held,” said Sue.
