Hillary family held at gunpoint during armed robbery

While the other family members were locked in one of the rooms, the suspects took one child to the lounge and pointed a gun at him while they removed televisions from the property.

A HILLARY family survived a traumatising armed robbery when a gang of robbers invaded their home and held them up at gunpoint on Monday night.

Blue Security community and media liaison officer, Andreas Mathios said four armed robbers arrived in a white VW Polo and forced their way into the family’s home just before 8pm.

“The suspects forced open a door and entered the house where they held up the family. They forced the owner, his wife and one child into one of the rooms in the house and kept one child with them. “

Mathios said the robbers  took the child to the lounge and pointed a firearm at him while they removed televisions from the property.

“When the suspects were leaving the premises, another resident arrived at the scene, disturbing them. One of the suspects fired a shot before they fled in their getaway vehicle. No injuries were reported,” said Mathios.

Bellair SAPS attended the scene of the crime.
