A FERAL cat that  lives with a feral colony in New Germany is doing well after she suffered injuries caused by a wire stuck around her abdomen.

According to the Feral Cat Rescue Trust, Durban, South Africa Facebook Page, the colony’s feeder spotted the distressed cat with the wire wrapped around her body last week, however the cat then disappeared before the feeder could assist.

Fortunately the cat made an appearance on Tuesday, 12 March and rescuers managed to catch her and remove the wire.

She was then rushed to the vet where her wound was treated. She is expected to return to the vet in a weeks time so that the stitches can be removed.

“We think that the snares are being set to kill the mongooses as there are many in the area. It is an extremely cruel method of hunting and this feral was obviously in that much pain that she allowed herself to be caught and handled by humans,” said the admin of the page.
