THE national election will take place on Wednesday, 8 May as confirmed by President Cyril Ramaphosa during his State of the Nation Address. The voting stations will open at 7am and close at 9pm.

DA PR councillor, Riona Gokool has shared key dates people should take note of prior to the election date:
- The cut-off for objections to the voters’ roll was on Friday, 8 March.
- Submission of lists of candidates is Wednesday, 13 March.
- Notifications to vote outside the country is Wednesday, 13 March.
- Certification of the voters’ roll is Monday, 18 March.
- Closing of applications for special votes is Thursday, 18 April.
- Publication of lists of candidates is Tuesday, 23 April.
- Voting at the foreign missions of the Republic will take place on Saturday, 27 April.
- Special voting days are Monday, 6 and Tuesday, 7 May 2019.
