Police seek man suspected for alleged rape of 12-year-old girl

The court has issued a warrant for his arrest.

POLICE are asking for help to track and arrest a man they believe might be responsible for the rape of a 12-year-old girl which took place at the Mariannhill Railway Station, on a Monday morning in January.

According to KZN police spokesman, Colonel Thembeka Mbele, the Chatsworth Family Violence, Child Protect and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) has issued an appeal to the community to help them track down Samson Mbuyiseleni Mkhize (34) who they claim is being sought so that he might face charges for the attack.

“A 12-year-old girl was attacked and raped by a known suspect on 21 January 2019 at 7:30am, at the Mariannhill Railway Station,” said Mbele.

“The suspect fled the scene on foot after the incident and has been on the run since then. A case of rape was opened for investigation. A warrant for his arrest has been issued by the court.”

Mbele added that the investigating officer at the Chatsworth FCS Unit can be contacted with any information on 031 451 4309/ 083 355 6983 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
