Hillcrest’s indigenous verge makes the cut

If you live in Hillcrest, and have a lovely verge, this prize could be yours!

THE worthy winners of the Keep Hillcrest Beautiful Association’s (KHBA) summer verge award are Joanna and George Campbell.

Each summer and winter, the KHBA team scouts Hillcrest for a verge that is worthy of an award by the association.

“We are so grateful to all those who maintain their verges, as we know that the municipality is not in the business of gardening on verges,” said the KHBA’s Marge Mitchell.

The Campbell’s verge is a beautiful mix of indigenous plants that are waterwise. “Joe Sangwati is the gardener and his work is to be commended,” said Marge.

To award his efforts Joe was presented with a very generous hamper from Marc Anderson of Richdens SPAR.

“We are most grateful to Richdens for their unwavering support of KHBA,” she said.
