Aphiwe inspires young girls

Aphiwe Sikhakhane needs help take part in the Miss Inspire SA Junior pageant which will be held in March at Johannesburg.

MOLWENI’S little princess, Aphiwe Sikhakhane needs help to get to Johannesburg at the end of March to represent KZN at Miss Inspire SA Junior.

Miss Inspire was started to help develop future women leaders in South Africa and the continent and their mission is to shift the focus of young women to positive initiatives.

Aphiwe started modelling at the tender age of six and already has 13 titles under her name, the first one being Miss Molweni.

The 10-year-old said she hopes to inspire other children to enter beauty pageants as it helps her self esteem.

“I am now a very confident girl and I hope to win this competition so that I can also represent my country,” she said.

The competition will take place at Boat Deck Lake, Side Walk on Saturday, 30 March and Aphiwe needs help with accommodation and transportation.

Cst Andile Mbhele from Hillcrest SAPS Crime Prevention who works with a number of schools in the Highway area, has taken this girl under her wing and is assisting her to get sponsors and said she is confident that Aphiwe will make the province proud.

“Young girls needs to be encouraged and motivated to follow their dreams so that they can a make a difference and empower other women,” she said.
