WATCH: Meet the men who arrested an M7 shootout suspect

Watch the two men from Queensburgh, who apprehended the injured man who had fled a shootout with authorities on the M7 last week, describe their version of the events following the high-speed chase which resulted in a two-hour search for the survivors of the shooting sought in connection with multiple crimes.

TWO men from Queensburgh have shared their story about how they came to apprehend one of the men who had fled the scene of a shootout with police on the M7 on Wednesday, 23 January.

Meanwhile, of the four men involved in the shootout, one is still on the run.

The main road running past the community of Queensburgh was closed to traffic following a gun battle between authorities and the four suspects.

Police had chased the men from the South Coast along the N2 northbound after they had allegedly hijacked a vehicle in Scottburgh.

According to a statement on the shooting by Marshall Security’s Kyle van Reenen, a man was injured after the shootout and fled into the area.

Dave Laas, an active member of the neighbourhood watch for the area into which the two men had fled adjacent to the M7, said he joined the search for the men who were assumed to be armed.

The SAPS K9 unit was also called in to assist with a search.

Laas, had just come off night-shift shortly before the search began. He said he had gone home to change when he received a called from Christopher Marx of Almyn Protection Services, which patrols the area he lives in, to say he had come across a man who was injured and needed assistance.
