Westville couple stabbed with sword during home invasion

The suspects fled on foot, only taking a wallet with an unknown amount of cash.

TWO Westville residents in their 50s narrowly escaped a harrowing sword attack at the weekend.

The couple was stabbed with sword after two men reportedly broken into their St George Drive home at around 3.40pm on Saturday, 26 January.

According to Westville SAPS communications officer, Cpt Elizabet Squires a scuffle ensued, and the husband was stabbed in the chest with the sword, while his wife was stabbed in the hand.

The suspects are believed to have gained entry by breaking a window.

“The victim (the husband) was taken to Westville Hospital for treatment and discharged later that day,” she said.

The suspects fled on foot, only taking a wallet with an unknown amount of cash.

A case of House Robbery is being investigated by Westville Detectives. “Our detectives are working with all possible leads to arrest these suspects,” added Squires.
