In a statement the Right2Know campaign said this was “a blatant attempt to silence the voices of the Zimbabwean people and to deny them their right to know”.

“We are also petitioning the government of South Africa to take a firm stand against the attacks/killings and internet shutdown and act in support of the Zimbabwean people and to place maximum political and pressure on Mnangagwa and his government.”

“We would like to urge South Africa through SADC to lead a process that leads to comprehensive political solution to the crisis in Zimbabwe. South Africa has a moral obligation to stand with the people of Zimbabwe. Events in Zimbabwe directly affects South Africa both socially and economically,” the statement read.
