Aspiring Pinetown schoolboy actor is on billboards

Pinetown Boys' matric learner, Qiniso Makhoba is a proud performer who feels at home when he is on stage.

PINETOWN Boys’ learner, Qiniso Makhoba, recently won two awards and is looking forward to being part of any big TV production when he completes his studies.

He lives up to his name. Qiniso is a Zulu name which means ‘Truth’. “When my mom was pregnant, my dad denied me and my mom and her aunt took me to his parents and they were amazed by the resemblance and said, it is ‘iQiniso’ (the truth), the child is really yours.”

Qiniso stands for the truth and is truthful to who and what he is and knows exactly where his heart lies, which is in performing.

Qiniso Makhoba is a Pinetown star in the making.

His warmth and humour shows through his irresistible smile and he is very popular among his peers.

Qiniso was awarded Dramatist of the Year and Actor of the Year at last year’s prize giving and is in the Share A Coke Campaign.

“I always knew I wanted to be a performer and since primary school, I have been in school productions. In 2017 I signed up with an agent to polish my skills.

“I am a lover of performance, I sing, dance and act, I love the stage, I feel at home when I’m on stage,” he said.

Being part of the Share a Coke campaign has proved to Qiniso that all things are possible and he can’t hide his excitement when sharing his experience of being on the billboards.

“My agent called me, I went to the auditions, got shortlisted and made it to the finals. I am still over the moon and I can’t help but smile when I think about it. This was the first big commercial as Coca Cola is a huge brand.

“Seeing myself on the big boards and big screens makes me super proud. When people call and tell me they have seen me, it shows how my passion and talent is appreciated,” said the proud Qiniso.

Qiniso who is a proud homosexual advised, especially young people, to take pride in who they are, follow their hearts and never give up.

“Your dreams will not chase you around, you should chase them and know where your  heart lies. To parents, allow your children to explore other things, my mom also did not approve of this career at first, but now she is my number one fan,” he said
