Matric results: Thomas More College

Thomas More College had a 99.13 per cent pass rate and the learners earned 237 distinctions between them.

THE Thomas More College community celebrated the outstanding results of the class of 2018.

“This incredibly diverse group of young people has benefitted immeasurably from their own industry and the unwavering support of their teachers,” said the college headmaster, Dave Wiggett.

With a 99.13 per cent pass rate and 109 of the 116 candidates achieving a Bachelor Degree pass, the learners amassed 237 subject distinctions at an average of more than two distinctions per candidate. The school’s top achievers include Este Kotze (92.2 per cent, 8 distinctions), Eleanor Canning (90.6 per cent, 7 distinctions) and Clifton Wilesmith (89 per cent, 7 distinctions). Twenty candidates achieved A aggregates, and 32 achieved B aggregates.

“While we are obviously exceptionally proud of these fine achievements and that they open a range of doors for our young people, it is their character education that will be celebrated with permanence. These young people are perfectly poised to lead lives of significance and value, and it remains our privilege to be the stewards of tomorrow’s leaders, today,” he said.
