Low possibility for festive season load shedding, says Eskom
According to Eskom, the system is still vulnerable and if there are any changes, load shedding may occur.
IN a media statement issued by Eskom today, it stated that the probability of load shedding between 13 December until 13 January is low.
Eskom noted that it had not implemented load shedding for four consecutive days and said the respite is a result of the expected decrease in demand as businesses and industries will shut down for the festive period.

“However, heavy rains over the December period to March period could impact coal handling and feeding to the boilers with a potential impact on generation production.”

“While we do not anticipate load shedding, we continue to warn customers that as the system remains vulnerable, any shift could increase the probability of load shedding,” read the statement.
It noted there could be power outages, but these would be as a result of technical faults on the distribution network.
