Hatton Estate installs street security cameras

This was made possible by  financial backing of the residents and businesses in Hatton Estate financial backing

WITH the increasing crime in and around Pinetown, Hatton Estate Neighbourhood Watch announced that residents have banded together to install street security cameras at all major road intersections.

The neighbourhood watch, which has been running for more than four years now, hosted a fun day on Sunday, 2 December to launch the community observation room for the street cameras.

“These cameras have been a proven success in other areas.”

” We have partnered with Kinetic and Proforce Security that enables the cameras to feed back to a community incentive observation room where Proforce Security has sponsored an operator to monitor these cameras for us as well as oversee our emergency line which is available to residents, 24 hours a day, seven days a week throughout the year,” said chairman, Rob Leask.

He said there is no cost to belong to their neighbourhood watch but they rely on donations.

“This would not have been possible without the residents and businesses in Hatton Estate financial backing or our patrollers that give of their time and resources for free helping keep our hood safe,” said Leask.

He added that they work closely with other neighbourhood watches in the area such as Pineridge, Glenpark and Ashley and the open communication between them has helped reduce the crime as a whole in Sector 3.

“The only way we can stop crime is to work together.”
