Abused pup in search of her forever home

When she arrived at the Kloof and Highway SPCA, Stacey needed urgent medical care.

AT the end of August, the Kloof and Highway SPCA received a report of animal cruelty from a concerned resident.

Two inspectors from the nonprofit organisation, Petra Abrams and Petros Simamane, arrived at the property and were shocked to find a two-year-old cross breed female, named Stacey, in a horrific condition.

“Stacey was found on a thick, short chain with no water or shelter. Her negligent owner decided to rather sign her over into the care of the Kloof and Highway SPCA as he refused to provide her with adequate veterinary care or food,” said the NPO’s marketing and fund-raising officer, Brigitte Rossouw.

A case of animal cruelty will be opened under the Animals Protection Act No 71 of 1962 against her owner.

Stacey arrived at the Kloof and
Highway SPCA with a body score of one out of nine.

When Stacey arrived at the Kloof SPCA’s offices, she was given a body score of one out of nine, the lowest score that could be given.

“She was in serious need of medical attention,” said Rossouw.

Since she arrived at the Kloof and Highway SPCA, Stacey has thrived and transformed into a healthy, happy dog.”

“Although saddened by the immense cruelty, she has experienced, the staff and volunteers are thrilled to see the transformation in her appearance,” she said.

Stacey is desperate to find a forever home and new family.

“She is a happy, active girl who loves going for walks and is enjoying her new found freedom. Sadly, having spent her life enduring unknown cruelty, she will need to be an only dog as she has never been socialised with other animals. She is waiting for her chance to experience a happy home and the kindness and love that she deserves.”
