Biker killed in New Germany accident

Police are investigating the death of a biker who died on Escom Road on Monday afternoon after a collision with a vehicle.

ON Monday afternoon at approximately 4 pm, a biker lost his life in an accident at the corner of Escom Road and Suffert Street, close to New Germany, Pinetown.

According to Garrith Jamieson of RescueCare paramedics arrived at the scene to find the biker had sustained multiple injuries.

“There was nothing more paramedics could do for him and he was declared deceased at the scene,” said Jamieson adding that the man was believed to be in his 40s and had collided with another vehicle.

“At this stage events leading up to the collision are unknown, however, SAPS is in attendance and will be investigating further,” said Jamieson at the time of the accident.

Jamieson added that police had to close part of the road in order to continue with their investigation.
