Cowies Hill man accosted, one robber dead and one arrested

The third suspect is still on the loose.

THREE men accosted a 55-year-old man when he arrived at his Buckingham Place Home in Cowies Hill this morning.

According to KZN SAPS media spokesman, Lieutenant Colonel Thulani Zwane, the resident is believed to have been shot in the chest by one of the assailants.

“The victim, who was also in possession of a firearm, retaliated and shot at the suspects who then fled the scene on foot,” said Zwane.

The Cowies Hill resident was taken to a nearby hospital.

One suspect was found dead in a nearby bush, the second suspect, a 25-year-old man, was also found hiding in a nearby bush and was arrested.

The third suspect evaded arrest.

“The arrested suspect will be charged for attempted robbery and attempted murder and will appear in the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court soon,” said Zwane.
