Headway-Natal to host World Stroke Day

There will be free blood tests done at the talk by sisters from Life Westville Hospital.

HEADWAY-NATAL invites Highway residents to its open day held on World Stroke Day on Wednesday, 31 October from 9.30am at 11 Menston Road in Westville.

“In South Africa, nearly 240 people will suffer from a stroke each day. Those who survive the stroke will make a full recovery, but many will be left with lasting disabilities.

“This is where we, as Headway-Natal, come in and offer rehabilitation. For us the biggest focus is on the causes and effects as well as the treatment of a stroke,” said the organisation’s manager, Colleen Marais.

According to Marais, at least 50 per cent of the members at Headway-Natal are stroke survivors.
