Ambitious Pinetown catwalk queen rakes in titles

The Grade 8 learner at Westville Girls' High School was recently crowned Miss Toddler and Tiaras teen SA.

AT the age of 13, Amahle Mgenge has proven to be a catwalk queen with many titles under her name, the most recent being Miss Toddler and Tiaras Teen SA.

The Grade 8 learner at Westville Girls’ High School began doing photoshoots at the age of three and at the age of 11 won her first pageant, Miss Pinetown Junior.

The reserved Amahle, who is trained by Adele Botes, said winning pageants boosts her confident as she used to be very shy.

“My favourite so far has been being crowned Miss Ushaka 2017. I am now Ushaka Marine ambassador and I love seeing myself on the billboards.”

With all those titles under her name, one would think Amahle is all about looking pretty and spending her time practising her walk, but her schoolwork takes priority as she is inspired by Nelson Mandela’s quote, ‘Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.’

“I want to make my mom proud as she encourages me in all my endeavours, she always make me feel extra special when I do well. My goal is to win Miss Universe as I have seen that if you put your heart into something, you can achieve it,” she said.
