Response officer saves drowning child in Pinetown

A quick-thinking reaction officer saved a boy who had fallen into a swimming pool in Farningham Ridge by performing CPR.

A LOCAL reaction officer has been hailed a hero after he saved a drowning boy’s life earlier today.

Blue Security’s CPO, Sizwe Zulu was called out to St Anne’s Crescent in Farningham Ridge in Pinetown where he was met by an elderly woman (the grandmother), carrying the 5-year-old child, desperately looking for assistance.

Zulu took the unconscious boy from the grandmother’s arms and immediately began performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), said Blue Security’s Andreas Mathios.

Thanks to the officer’s determination the boy was eventually revived.

Mathios said the boy was then rushed to a nearby medical facility.

“By 3PM this afternoon, he was back home recovering. Well done Sizwe, we are extremely proud of you!” he added.
