SPRING may have sprung, but last night’s snowfall made a welcome appearance as it blanketed much of the Drakensberg and a few surrounding areas.

Rob Ansell of Snow Report SA reported there was snow across southern, central and northern Drakenberg, heavy snow in Maloti Mountains in Lesotho, snow in the high ground around Harrismith and Memel in the Free State and the Golden Gate Highlands National Park. There is no snow in Underberg.

If you are hoping to catch the snow before it melts, best do it quickly as, according the South African Weather Service, the chill will not last through the weekend.
