Take Note: Strike action leaves some Durban beaches unprotected
Beachgoers are urged to check with lifeguards stationed at beaches whether it is safe to enter the water.
IF you’re thinking of making the most of the weekend weather and heading for some of Durban’s most loved beaches, take note of the following announcement from the KZN Sharks Board.
The KZN Sharks Board is currently experiencing industrial action with its labour force and as such has had to temporarily reduce the number of protected beaches the organisation is able to service with the resources available.

According to the Sharks Board’s Mike Anderson-Reade Head of Operation, bathing is currently open at the following beaches:
North Coast: Salt Rock Beach, Willards Beach (Ballito Bay main beach), Umhlanga Rocks main beach.
Durban: Ushaka to North Beach inclusive.
South Coast: Amanzimtoti Main Beach, Scottburgh, St Michaels, Uvongo, Margate Main Beach, Ramsgate, Southbroom, San Lameer.
Visitors to the beaches are requested to check with the lifeguards prior to entering the water at any protected beaches not mentioned above.
