BOYS at Kearsney College have returned from the school’s annual leadership week, in which the principles of team work and leadership in the 21st century formed the central focus.
Grade 11s were involved in an intensive course on ethics and leadership, preparing them for the role as leaders next year. The group was put through four intensive days in which they were challenged to solve a range of moral and leadership dilemmas, in preparation for their mentoring role as matrics in 2019.
Talks were presented by a number of senior Kearsney staff members, as well as invited guest speakers, including Mpumi Mhlongo, a Kearsney Old Boy who is one of South Africa’s most successful Paralympians.
A highlight of the boys’ experience was the Golden Mile Team Challenge, which saw the groups competing against each other in a range of tasks set in and around the Durban beachfront.
More than 400 boys from younger grades also participated in different programmes and challenges.
