Survey reveals KZN folk most concerned about jobs, housing, crime and corruption
The people of KwaZulu-Natal are more satisfied with the services they receive from the provincial government as opposed to local government, according to the StatsSA survey.
THE top six issues most complained about by the citizens are water and sanitation, electricity, clinics, affordable housing, crime and corruption, and road maintenance.
This is contained in the results of the KwaZulu-Natal Satisfaction Survey that was released by Statistician General, Risenga Maluleke in Durban today.
The survey, which was conducted in more than 22 thousands households in KwaZulu-Natal, indicates that 40 pre cent of the citizens are satisfied with services while 60 per cent have varying degrees of dissatisfaction.
According to the report citizens are most worried about job creation, housing and fighting crime and corruption. The survey focused on three Batho Pele principles namely value for money, courtesy and information.

Speaking during the release of the report, Premier of KwaZulu-Natal Willies Mchunu said, “We now know what the main concerns of the people of KwaZulu-Natal are. We now know how we have performed since the last survey in 2015. The purpose of this survey has been achieved,” said Premier Mchunu.
Maluleke praised KwaZulu-Natal for being the only province to have regularly and voluntarily requested StatsSA to conduct such a survey.
The Premier said: “Our teams will be engaging with these findings extensively, starting today and over the next few weeks to shape the future of our province with our communities. These teams need to embrace all our stakeholders as we are mindful that we can achieve much more effectively through partnerships.
“While we reflect on the results, and are informed of new opportunities and strategies, we must be mindful of the need to expedite delivery as we remain committed to deliver our Vision 2035.”
The Premier expressed his gratitude to the citizens for their participation.
“We are most grateful to StatsSA for this quality work in conducting this survey.
“Let me also take this opportunity to thank all our citizens for providing us with their feedback through this survey. Your opinion matters to us and we need this to improve,” said Premier Mchunu.
