A safe, loving environment for little minds

Three women have made it their mission to make sure mums and dads can go about their working lives knowing their children are in a safe, loving environment where all their needs are being taken care of.

New mothers know all too well how traumatic it is for them to have to go back to work after spending their maternity leave getting to know and love their new-born babies. Even new fathers struggle at times with the reality of having to leave their child in the “hands of strangers” while they as parents have to go back to work.

“We are mothers ourselves,“ explained Leigh Fordyce, the administrative genius who, along with Megan Arpin and Kirsty Yuill – both qualified and experienced teachers – created a special preschool which they would happily send their own children too.

“Here, the children come first,” stressed Arpin. “All that we focus on is the well-being of each and every child in our care.”

Arpin and Yuill had both worked previously in other schooling environments and felt they could create something closer to what they would hope to offer their own children, so along with Fordyce, they started Klever Little Mindz Preschool with the motto that reflects their feelings so adequately, “Our passion, their future!”

The school offers a safe environment for children from the ages of 4 months to five years. The three women ensure they balance the need for structure, with the freedom for their young charges to develop emotionally, mentally and physically.

There are a variety of extra-murals on offer, including a swimming school which transports the children to and from the pool so parents don’t have the added stress of ferrying children to school activities during the course of a work day.

There is also full holiday care available, ensuring that parents who have to work during school holidays are able to make sure their children are well taken care of.

“Meals are provided by our own in-house professional chef, catering for all dietary needs and ensuring that all the children are given the opportunity to develop a healthy relationship with food,” explained Fordyce.

“All in all, what we provide is a good grounding for the developing child so that by the time they are ready for school readiness programs, they are well versed in the situations they can expect at school which also helps prevent them from feeling anxiety about their future schooling,” explained Yuill.

The school, situated at 64 Old Mail Road, Hillcrest, is open to view at all times. “Pop in and chat to us,” said Fordyce who can be reached at the email address slfordyce@telkomsa.net or on 082 564 0268.
