Pavilion search for junior chefs

Entries are now open for Pavilion cooking competition aimed at children aged nine to 12 years old.

THE Pavilion shopping centre will host it first cooking competition aimed at children aged nine to 12 years old and entries are now open.

Nine finalists will stand a chance to win a fabulous prize package as well as the prestigious title of The Pavilion Junior Chef 2018.

The finalists will be chosen from hundreds of Pavilion shoppers as well as general KZN consumers.

Children aged between nine and 12 years can submit their best recipes via email.

Aspiring chefs are encouraged to send a 30 to 45 second video clip of themselves explaining why they deserve to be nominated as one of the Junior Chef contestants and email the video to juniorchef@thepav.co.za.

Entries close on Friday, 31 August. All entries will be reviewed by an approved panel of expert judges and shortlisted to compete in the cook off over three exciting weeks in the build-up to the finale.

The cook-off events will take place on Saturdays; 15, 22, 29 September and the finale will take place on Saturday, 6 October from 12pm to 2pm.

Each week the contestants will be rated by a panel of three judges, including celebrities and executive chefs, and the event will be hosted by radio and television personality Terence Pillay.

The three winners from each round will become the finalists.

The winner of The Pavilion Junior Chef will walk away with amazing prizes which include an Elba gas stove and oven valued at R20 000.

A family weekend trip for two adults and two children to Cape Town to the Wildekrans Wine Estate where the Pavilion Junior Chef will experience a master class with renowned chef, Greg Henderson, valued at R30 000.

General Manager of Pavilion Shopping Centre, Nisha Kemraj, said the Pavilion Shopping Centre always looks for new and innovative ways to offer shoppers an enhanced experience.

“Through this campaign we are not only doing that, but we are also rewarding them with some fantastic prizes. The Pavilion Junior Chef will undoubtedly be a highlight on our 2018 calendar.”
