Man (43) murdered in Wyebank home invasion

One of the five suspects has been arrested for robbery and murder.

A 20-YEAR-OLD suspect is expected to make his first appearance in the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court today, Friday, 17 August following his arrest on Wednesday for house robbery and murder.

Pinetown Cluster communications officer, Capt Bongumusa Manqele, said it is alleged that on Wednesday, 8 August at about 8pm, the victim (43) was at his home in Fannin Road, Wyebank when five armed suspects stormed inside the house.

“It is alleged the suspects shot the victim on the foot and the head, killing him, then went on to steal his Toyota vehicle, two cellphones and a television set before fleeing the scene,” said Manqele.

The stolen car was later recovered in the Umlazi area and police investigation led to the arrest of the suspect in the Pinetown CBD.
