Pinetown community invited for clean-up

Highway Christian Community Church invites everyone to stand together to make Pinetown a clean place.

HIGHWAY Christian Carers are on a mission to help the homeless, drug addicts and restore Pinetown to its former glory, by making it a safe and beautiful town to live in.

As part of its mission to get businesses and the public involved, the Highway Christian Carers have organised a Community Street Clean up which will be held on Thursday, 9 August.

The Christian carers have recently begun with the clean-up in Harvey Road where homeless people come through on a Wednesday to clear the bush.

“So far it has proven to work as the area is clearer. The criminals use the bush to hide in and there was a serial rapist who was luring his victims into these bushes.

“Depending on the food parcels we managed to collect, we only take that number of people to work on the day as we give them the parcels in return for their hard work,” said Donna Walker from Highway Christian Community church.

On 9 August, the meeting point will be the Highway Christian Community, 7 Harvey Road, Pinetown. There will be light breakfast at 8am, the walk and the street clean up will be from 9am to 1pm. There will be lunch at the church after the clean-up.

Walker added that Pinetown is our community and will change if people do something together.

“We implore you to bring your hearts and hands and partner with us in any way you can.

If you are homeless, join us on this day. If you care for your community, join us. Help us make a difference.

“People can bring their own garden gloves,” she said.
