Dog makes slow recovery after throat slit in Kloof home robbery

Nala's family thanked everyone for their support and kind words during this traumatic experience.

NALA, a Kloof bull terrier whose throat was slit during a home invasion on Friday is said to be recovering at home.

According Blue Security liaison officer, Andreas Mathios, Nala is very traumatised and is on strong medication for pain.

“When we went to check up on her on Saturday and her owner, we found that Nala was still very traumatised. We did not want to upset her so we did not go inside.”

What’s more, Mathios said Nala is unable to bark, as her vocal cords were damaged when her throat was slit.

“She is also on meds for her anxiety. Nala does not even want to go near the bedroom where the criminals entered and attacked her and her owner. It is going to take time and patience for this poor dog to get over her trauma,” he said.

He added that the family thanked everyone who offered help. Blue Security has also been receiving calls from people who wish to assist.

“One gentleman offered Nala a brand new dog basket so that she can recover nicely in it.”
