Math stars reach new horizons

This year more than 5500 learners from 38 schools from Grade 5 to 7 wrote the first round, and 700 learners went through to round two from 28 schools.

STAR College recently hosted its 16th Horizon Maths Awards function with more than 800 parents, teachers, principals and excited learners attending.

The competition offered two rounds, the first at the individual schools and the second round hosted at Star College.

This year, more than 5 500 learners from 38 schools from Grade 5 to 7 wrote the first round, and 700 learners went through to round two from 28 schools.

The top 200 were invited to the prestigious awards function where successful learners received a certificate and token gift from Gem School wear and Horizon Educational Trust.

Zoe Pearson (right) from Durban Girls’ College was placed first and also achieved top placement nationally from over 51 500 entrants.
