Forest Hills community learns more about crime prevention

The event created awareness of the various crime prevention organisations in Durban including the K9 Unit, Gillitts Fire Department, security companies and emergency services.

FOREST Hills 2 Neighbourhood Watch hosted a successful Crime Awareness Day at Forest View Primary School recently.

The event created awareness of the various crime prevention organisations in Durban including the K9 Unit, Gillitts Fire Department, security companies and emergency services.

“Due to recent crime spikes in our area we have formed a neighbourhood watch and the event was a day to unite our community by bringing together all the roleplayers. This was also to raise much needed funds for our neighbourhood watch so we can buy cameras for our streets,” said chairperson of the neighbourhood watch committee, Megan Dunstan.

The Shongweni K9 unit was represented by Warrant Officer Buckthorp and Sgt Hlope with his patrol K9, Onyx, who did the tackle demo at the crime awareness day.
