Man fights off armed robbers in Pinetown CBD

Pinetown police have urged the victim to come forward and open a case so that the suspects can be arrested.

PICTURES  showing a man being attacked by two suspects in the notorious Pinetown intersection has caused  a stir on social media with people asking for police to do something as crime is spiralling out of control in that area.

The pictures were captured by a person who witnessed the incident which happened on Saturday, 23 June on Josiah Gumede Road.

In the pictures, the man is accosted by two armed men and another picture shows the victim outside the car fighting off a man armed with a knife.

According to the Facebook post, the driver went to hospital and had to have his hands operated on.

Pinetown Cluster communications officer, Capt Bongumusa Manqele said there was no case registered at the station

“We urge the victim to come forward and open a case so that police can investigate and arrest the suspects.

“The Pinetown CBD has surveillance cameras, many criminals get away as people do not open cases with so we plead for people to report criminal activities instead of sharing them on social media,” said Manqele.
