Amy has a heart of gold

Donate blankets, beanies, scarves, tooth paste or even tinned food to fill the necessity bags for children in the Upper Highway area.

A CHILLY evening sparked a flame of change as little Amy Corden (8) chose to step out of her world of comfort and help create a heartwarming difference in the lives of other, less fortunate children.

Amy’s compassionate letter to the community may just thaw even the coldest of hearts:

“My name is Amy Corden. I am eight years old and I got to Waterfall Preparatory and I am in Grade 3. One night I was talking to my mom about how cold it is and I was telling her about how said I felt in my heart that there were pepol on the streets who dont have homes. children who donet have warm blankets. And children who donet have family.

So I toled my mom what I could do for the. I want to help them by starting a club with the children at school so we can all get together and pray for the homeless children, write letters of love and joy and rase money to buy them the important things they need. The things are a blanket, facecloth, toothbrush, tooth past, beane, scarf, gloves, tin food that you can pull open.

So my mom and I have a goal to full 100 NB bags. NB stands for necessity bag, NB also means important. These bags ARE important. My teacher, my mom and I had a meeting with focus on ithemba and we are teaming up with them.

We need your help to do our project. Thank you. Love Amy Corden.” (sic)

The little girl’s loving mom, Kerry Bartholomew Corden, shared the letter on Facebook, requesting help from friends and family.

The donated clothing will be given to Focus on iThemba, which oversees eight creches in the Upper Highway area.

“We need our children making a difference. She is so excited to motivate other children. If you can help in any way let us know. We need to start somewhere and every little bit helps,” said Kerry.

To donate or sponsor any of the NB goods mentioned in the letter, send an e-mail to kerry@mooidev.co.za.
