Furry felines strut their stuff

By visiting the show, you will be supporting the Cat Cradle, a cat sanctuary.

TAKE a peek at the ‘purrfect’ felines at the Provincial Cat Society’s fund-raiser show on Saturday, 23 and Sunday, 24 June from 9am to 2pm at Hillcrest Primary School.

Funds raised from the event will go to the Cat’s Cradle, a sanctuary for homeless animals that facilitates the care of feral cat colonies by assisting with trapping, sterilising and releasing.

Renate Haussman, founder of The Cat’s Cradle, will exhibit some of her precious cats at the show.

Shadow, a feral cat, lost his place in the sun when the resort where he lived expanded its outside entertainment area.

Terrified of the machines, the noise and the people, Shadow hid in the underground parking.

A caring citizen took pity on the filthy cat and, after a patient few weeks, Shadow was trapped and relocated to The Cat’s Cradle.

“He is still a shy boy, but Shadow’s days are now spent sleeping in the sunshine, and waking up to groom himself or enjoy a snack,” said Renate.

The public is invited to meet Renate and breeders of pedigreed cats.

The entrance is R10 per person. Contact Jacqui on 082 567 9995.
