Jaws of Life used to free taxi driver in Westmead collision

The taxi driver, who was the only occupant, sustained lower limb injuries.

JAWS of Life were used to free a driver who was trapped in his vehicle after a mini-bus taxi and a heavy vehicle collided this morning (Monday, 18 June) in Westmead.

According to Netcare 911 media liaison officer, Shawn Herbst, paramedics were responding to reports of a collision on Goodwood Road.

“Upon arrival, another private ambulance service was already in attendance treating the patient. The driver of the taxi, an adult man was the only occupant and sustained lower limb injuries.

“The  Jaws of Life were used to free him. He was treated on scene and transported by a private ambulance to the hospital,” said Herbst.
