WESTVILLE police are appealing to the community and businesses within the area, to educate their employees, staff, domestic workers and even family members about obeying traffic laws.

Capt Elizabeth Squires, communications officer at Westville SAPS, said they had more than 23 cases of culpable homicide opened in the past financial year.
“People rush to get to public transport and instead of using the pedestrian bridge they run across the road. Motorists are also not obeying the speed limit and this will be dealt with in a serious manner,” said Squires.
She added that many of these incidents occur on the M13, especially opposite Toyota in Buckingham Terrace, all along the M13 until the Salisbury Road turn off.
“SAPS and Metro will have continuous operations to try curb these incidents. However it is the individual that needs to be responsible and obey the law,” said Squires.
